In the 1970's, Dam made roughly 500 male trolls to be used specifically for store displays. These large trolls measure about 22 inches tall and their heads, arms, and legs have moveable joints. Their hands are positioned to hold smaller trolls for display and they were created in a range of light to dark skin tones. Display Trolls with darker skin tones are more rare.
Only male Display Trolls were made. In the photos you will see that they have the rounded ears that are usually used for female trolls. It is thought that they used this design because it was easier to get out of the mold.
Due to their large size, Display Trolls often have structural flaws. Malformed mouths, heads that lean forward, sunken chests, weak areas in the vinyl, and loose joints are common. Some Display Trolls were made with unformed feet. This was intentional and not considered a flaw. The reason they were created this way is unknown. Some other trolls with unformed feet were also created during this time period. (Tip: Rubber bands can be placed around loose joints to keep the limbs in place!)
Their large size and rarity make Display Trolls a unique addition to any troll collection. Display Trolls are extremely sought after and are arguably one of the most expensive Dam Trolls to purchase.
